About the Brand
Café Bustelo was founded in 1928 by Gregorio Menéndez Bustelo in East Harlem, New York, and stayed family-owned until 2000, when it was sold to Miami’s Rowland Coffee Roasters. Rowland — and Café Bustelo with it — was acquired in 2011 by the publicly traded J.M. Smucker Company for $360 million. Smucker also owns Folgers and Café Pilón, so Bustelo is one of several coffee brands under the same corporate parent.
